Community Engagement

EPEL convenes community partners, families, schools, funders, and businesses to focus and align collective work to achieve the vision of all young children and their families in the greater Elgin area having equitable opportunities to thrive. EPEL uses every opportunity to bring the needs of young children into conversations and keep them at the top of agendas to support families in the journey to school readiness. It takes the whole community to support all children and families in creating best outcomes in the first 2,000 days of a child’s life.

Community Engagement includes raising awareness of the importance of early learning and increasing access to initiatives in the community like Language in the Laundromat, early learning Move, Play and Talk park sites, Learning On the Go and shared messaging in the first 2,000 days, birth to Kindergarten.
